Podil is a live history of Kyiv, its legend, it is the most ancient quater of the Ukraine`s capital.
The Podil or the lower city is a historic neighbourhood and an administrative district in Kyiv. It is one of the oldest neighborhoods of Kyiv, the birthplace of the city’s trade, commerce and industry. It still contains many architectural and historical landmarks. The list of Podil`s attractions include: Frolivskyi and Pokrovskyi Monasteries, National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, House of Ivan Mazepa, House of Peter the Great, Fountain of Samson, Zamkova Hora hill, Andriyivskyy Descent — the main link of Podil to the city’s administrative Uppertown, Borychiv Descent, Kiev River Port, main port on the Dnieper, Kiev funicular, Poshtova Square, and the Kontraktova Square.
