St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral

St. Michael's Golden-Domed Cathedral

St. Michael’s Golden-Domed Cathedral in Kiev was originally built in 1108-1113 by the Prince Svyatoslav II in the Byzantine style. Later it was renovated and enlarged in the Ukrainian Baroque style in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, though the interior remained Byzantine. In 1935-1936 the cathedral was demolished by the Soviet Bolsheviks. Again in 1997-1998 the cathedral and the bell tower were completely rebuilt by the city authorities, and transferred to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
