The site is a lake that was created in the place of an old granite quarry site. There is no inflow of water and the lake was filled by the natural uprise of groundwater since the water table is very high.
There are no seasonal changes in the size of the water-covered area. The reserve was established for the conservation of natural resources and the maintenance of the general ecological balance. The purpose of the natural boundary is also to preserve rare species of wild water fowl.
