This popular building (mansion) was constructed in 1907 upon an order of Sergey Arshavskiy, a merchant from Poltava by the architect Bratdtman (modern style). The House of the weeping widow is situated on the 23 Luteranska Street.

The House got its nickname because by raining water pours over the woman’s face on the facade, running down her cheeks like tears. Today, it is one of the President’s official residences, used to house state visitors in Kiev.
